  • General Motors manufactures GMC vehicles, and the marque now encompasses vans, light trucks, and SUV, including:

GMC Acadia is a mid-size crossover SUV. It can tow up to 4000 pounds, and can comfortably seat 7 people.  2007 and 2008 Acadia suffered from transmission issues and engine problem. Timing chain wore out prematurely on the 2010 GMC Acadia. Fortunately, newer model years have few problems reported, and owners find rear view camera and lane change assist technology to be helpful.

GMC Savana Cargo and Passenger – they were introduced in 1996. GMC Savana Cargo is roomy, and can carry 3000 pounds in addition to two humans, while the GMC Savana Passenger van can seat 12. We are not seeing any recurring problems with either vehicle.

GMC Yukon can seat as many as 8 passengers (plus the driver) and has been around for almost three decades. J.D. Power and Associates named Yukon the Most Dependable Large SUV in 2015 and 2016. Of the more recent models, 2015 Yukon had issues with air conditioning, while the 2007 model year suffered from excessive oil consumption (check oil levels frequently!)

GMC Sierra 1500 has been with us for over three decades.  Chances are your plumber or electrician also drives one, as GMC Sierra 1500 are remarkably reliable, except for the 2014 model that had headlight issues and problems with leaking ac condenser. Overall though, we see few GMC problem reports. Having said that, your Sierra 1500 will benefit from regular maintenance, including oil service.

GMC Sierra 2500 offers almost 4000 lb. payload capacity, and over 18500 lb. tow rating. Just like its “little brother” the 1500, GMC Sierra 2500 vehicles tend to be very reliable. One model year that leaves something to be desired is 2011 - Sierra 2500 had exhaust system problems, as well as occasional fuel pump failure. Naturally we recommend following factory recommended maintenance schedule to keep your Sierra 2500 reliable on the road.

GMC Canyon was introduced in 2004. This   mid-size pickup has a pretty good towing capacity – over 7000 lb. 2015 GMC Canyon had transmission problems and also power steering issues, while 2016 Canyon also suffered from transmission problems. GMC Canyon 2018 also had transmission problems, specifically slipping torque converter.

Early GMC Terrain versions suffered from transmission problems, but those problems were solved and it was named by J.D. Power and Associates “2015 Most Dependable Compact SUV”. This mid-size crossover SUV combines performance and style. Following Terrain’s factory maintenance schedule is highly recommended.
