Most A/C problems do not start with a dramatic failure. Cooling usually fades in small steps, so it is easy to blame the weather or assume the system just needs a quick recharge. The truth is, your A/C can be underperforming for a while before it becomes obvious. If you want fewer surprises in the first heat wave, it helps to treat A/C service like a plan, not a reaction. What A/C Service Actually Includes A/C service is more than adding refrigerant. A solid service checks vent temperature, airflow strength, and how the system behaves at idle and at higher engine speed. It also looks for signs that the system is working too hard, like unusual cycling or pressures that are drifting. In our shop, we also look for the small stuff that causes big complaints, like a clogged cabin filter or weak condenser airflow.
